Which gas bottle does the blue flame heater use, and how long does it run?

Butane, via the 21mm clip-on regulator, taking a cylinder up to 15kg. Output is adjustable from 1.5kW to 3.8kW, so a 15kg butane bottle gives roughly 54 hours on the highest setting and far longer on the lowest.

Is it safe to use indoors?

It's built for indoor use and includes an oxygen depletion system (ODS) that shuts the gas off if oxygen in the room falls too low. Use it in a ventilated room, never in a bathroom or a small sealed space, and keep clearance around it. An ODS responds to oxygen levels rather than carbon monoxide, so fit a CO alarm in any room where you use a gas heater.

Can I use it in a garage, workshop or conservatory?

Yes, provided the space is ventilated and the heater stays clear of anything flammable. These spaces are often dusty, so keep the burner clean, and don't run the heater in a closed-up garage. A CO alarm is strongly recommended.

Why butane rather than propane, and does cold weather affect it?

It's designed for butane on a 21mm clip-on fitting. Butane stops vaporising properly in the cold, so if the cylinder has been in an unheated garage or shed, bring it indoors to room temperature first — a cold bottle can feel empty when it still holds usable gas.
